Entry requirements

You must be at least 16-years old and have passed Grade 10 (Standard 8) or have an equivalent qualification. You don’t need any previous accounting knowledge or experience, as our foundation level courses teach you all the basics.

Bookkeeping to Trial Balance (BKTB)

The Bookkeeping to Trial Balance subject teaches students the fundamentals of bookkeeping using the double-entry system. They learn to record financial transactions, such as sales and purchases, into journals and ledgers. The course covers preparing a trial balance to ensure accurate financial records, managing cash books and petty cash, and handling VAT entries. This subject provides essential skills for accurate financial record-keeping.

Payroll and Monthly SARS Returns (PMSR)

The Payroll and Monthly SARS Returns subject focuses on managing payroll processes and complying with South African tax regulations. Students learn how to calculate employee salaries, deductions, and contributions, including PAYE, UIF, and SDL. The course also covers the preparation and submission of monthly SARS returns, ensuring compliance with tax requirements and proper record-keeping for payroll-related activities.

Examinations

Exams / Assessment structure

All subjects can now be taken online. These can be written at work, at home, or even at a college. Provided that the environment meets the requirements.
Each subject comprises of 3 learning phases. 1 x Phase 1 and 2 comprise of an assignment and test, and phase 3 comprises of an assignment, after which you are required to sit an external summative assessment or final exam.
